Massachusetts State Police ordered a temporary evacuation of the Charles River Esplanade ahead of the Boston Pops concert because of an approaching storm. Spectators were directed to nearby shelters.
The storm passed within an hour, and the concert resumed with a shortened program. Fireworks were launched slightly later than scheduled but still dazzled the crowd.
