The West End Museum launched a new initiative in February to document and showcase Black history and culture in the neighborhood before urban renewal reshaped the area. Curators have gathered oral histories, photographs, and personal artifacts from families who lived in the old West End.
The exhibit has drawn praise from historians and community members who say the stories have been overlooked for too long. Museum staff plan to expand the collection through ongoing community outreach.
